Hypothyroid symptoms list
If your thyroid is sluggish, you may experience one or several of the following symptoms. It will vary, depending on how deficient your thyroid hormones are, and also which part of the thyroid pathway is showing deficiencies. The symptoms may come and go, or will often develop slowly over the years. Several of these symptoms we often blame on ageing, or a slowing metabolism. But it’s always worth having a thyroid screen as many people have undiagnosed hypothyroidism.
Hypothyroidism signs and symptoms may include:
Tiredness and Fatigue
Increased sensitivity to cold, especially in the fingers and toes.
Constipation
Dry skin
Weight gain
Puffy face
Hoarseness
Muscle weakness
Elevated blood cholesterol level
Muscle aches, tenderness and stiffness
Pain, stiffness or swelling in your joints
Heavier than normal or irregular menstrual periods
Thinning hair
Slow heart rate
Depression
Impaired memory
Enlarged thyroid gland (goiter)
